Research in Motion has a leak they need to plug. Just a day after the first specs and images of the new BlackBerry Dakota hit the Internet comes an even more impressive reveal for the third-generation BlackBerry Storm.
The BlackBerry Storm 3 appears to be a 3.7-inch touchscreen device with an 800 x 480 resolution, which is the highest resolution for any BlackBerry ever. The Storm 3 will boast a 1.2GHz processor matching the BlackBerry Torch’s supposed speed, as well as a 5MP camera capable of 720p video, 8GB of storage 512MB of RAM and personal hotspot functionality, a la the Verizon iPhone. Storage is expandable thanks to a microSD slot, and inside, you’ll find 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth, a magnetometer, a proximity sensor, an accelerometer and a 1230mAh battery.
Those are some pretty impressive specs for the latest model in a series of devices that RIM had strongly been rumored to be killing off. Unfortunately, as good as those specs are, it’s the BlackBerry software that still really isn’t ready for multitouch, and since the Storm 3 is slated to use BlackBerry OS 6.1 instead of QNX, the Storm 3 might end up disappointing just as much as its predecessors.
